Pets on Quilts Contest

Here's my entry for SewCalGal's very fun Pets on Quilts Contest!

As I mentioned in my last post, I can't lay a quilt or piece of fabric on the floor without Lilly getting into the action!

Here she's modeling the Tessellating Cats quilts (this is the closest Lilly has ever been to a cat).  This quilt is probably 13 years old now and was made in a class held at my LQS.  I remember taking the class because my husband and daughter had their "Indian Princesses" camping weekend that weekend and I thought, perfect opportunity to take a quilt class.  Any quilt class.  And this was it!  I remember it being a lot of fun to make the quilt and I collected different fabrics for the "balls".  Some are scraps from friends and just looking at them brings back nice memories.  This would make a great gift for a kitty-loving friend, but I would have to make another, because I just can't give this one up o:)

Now, I want to run on over to SewCalGal's blog to see the parade of pets and quilts!

Lilly is so very cute. She reminds me of a pet that I had when I was quite young. Such a snuggle bunny.

Love your quilt too. This is a design I've wanted to make for so many years. Yours is beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Love it.

Thank you for sharing and for participating in my Pets on Quilts Show!

Looks like lovely Lilly gets along with cats just fine. What an interesting quilt and I love that the balls are made with 'memorable' fabric - that's what quilts are all about!

I recognize this pattern! One of the UFOs I inherited from Mom was this same tessellating cat pattern. She'd done hers in pink and black with different colored balls. She had the top entirely pieced--it just needed a little repair to one place where some whiskers had come undone, plus borders and then to be finished. I hung onto it for awhile thinking I'd finish it but finally recently gave it to a woman in my guild who is crazy about anything cats. It wasn't my colors and I'm (hopefully) a few years away from grandkids so I figured Mom would be happy with ANYONE finishing it--it didn't have to be me. It's fun to see a finished version here!

OK--an additional amusing moment. When I just posted the comment above, the word verification (anti-spam) that came up for me to type in before it would post was "hypersew." Yep--I've had moments in my life that could be clearly classified as "hypersew!"

What a cute dog! Had to LOL about your comment that this is the closest the Lily has been to a cat. Thanks for sharing Lily and your quilt.

Oh, how adorable is Lily. I had a Lily. She was a rescue Poodle who came with the name Lily. My last name is Pond, so she was Lily Pond. The vet's office got a kick out of it.

Cute dog! Love your cat quilt. I just love tessellations! And using a different and memorable fabric for each ball is a terrifec idea.

Lilly has a great smile, she looks like she's laughing. Maybe she knows everyone is talking about how cute she is.

Your quilt is lovely and I know exactly what you mean about Lilly. I have two boys who love to get their paws on my quilts.

I love tessellation quilts especially with cats on them even though I haven't completed on to date :) Lilly is always such a good helper I can tell!
