Kenny's Flea Market Finds

Here are two more knick-knacky things my dear husband came home with the other week.  This cute little treadle machine with a "quilt" in progress....it's very sweet.

This shadowbox of buttons is really cool and will hang on the wall in my sewing room...I love the "wallpaper" used as a background - I think it really pulls the whole idea together.  I don't know how old this is, but it really gives off an "old-fashioned vibe.  The buttons look fairly old too.

The Green Quilt!

I can finally reveal the green wedding quilt!  I wasn't sure at all about this at first, but I must say, I really liked it in the end.  It's got about 30 greens in it (all from stash by the way!)

You really can't see it in the photo (I seriously need to find a good place to hang quilts to get good photos), but I wound up using the fabric on the left for the border and binding (and not the premade green binding I showed in my other post about this quilt - it just didn't go and that's fine because I'll just use it for something else)...

I used the Curlz pantograph.  I didn't want anything too flowery or feathery, and this was just the look I was going for...

I found a great wide Hunky Dory by Chez Moi fabric for the back (I hate piecing backs, I may have mentioned that before.  I love the way they look, I just don't like doing it o:) )...

And, to pay homage to the bride's penchant for wearing different colored socks, this is the label I made...

I'm still waiting to hear if the bride & groom like the quilt (they are still on their honeymoon).  I think they will - as you'll see the cake was green and the bride's dress had a green band (it was beautiful)...

It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding...all except for these unvited guests...

I never saw so many stinkbugs in my life!  There were more stinkbugs than guests.  Eewwwwww.  Other than that - a lovely day!

I'm in love...

and her name is Mary Rose.   Particularly this.  I was going about my morning routine of checking my personal emails - select everything that I know is junk or that I don't have to read  and delete first and then go back and quickly review what I've kept.  I certainly don't need any more fabric right now so I should have included that email from Shabby Fabrics in the delete list this time.  Why, oh, why did I open that email?  There were links to the Mary Rose line, Collection 8 to be exact and since I liked the name, I thought, I'll just click and see.  And there was Mary Rose in all her splendor and it was love at first sight and I think I need some.  But, I spent so dang much money at the quilt show the other weekend and I still have to buy some of the sweet Lilly & Will for a baby quilt due in November that I really shouldn't let Mary Rose tempt me.  But I don't know if I can resist.

I couldn't get a photo I could post, but click on the links - or not (if you're as easily tempted as I am.)  o:)
I really need to stop opening emails from quilt shops o:)

Kenny's Flea Market Finds - The Mother Lode!

Sometimes I am really glad my husband goes yard sale-ing (is that even a word??) almost every Saturday ... last week he came home with this...

I know it doesn't look like much but, oh my goodness, it's yards and yards of of beautiful, quilt shop fabric.  This pile is mostly Christmas and Fall fabrics with some purples in there.  Most are 1 to 2 yard pieces with maybe a square or a strip cut out with some fat quarters that didn't even have the little sticker taken off yet.  The lady whom he purchased them from said she was moving to Florida and these fabrics didn't "go" down there.  I don't think I'd care, but luckily for me she did!

So, hubby said she had a lot more than the five bags he got.  On Sunday, I mentioned that I wished I'd gone there myself to get some more (because I definitely don't have enough fabric, you know).  He said, let's just go back.  I was nervous because I thought she'd be a little annoyed having this strange man showing up at her house again AFTER the yard sale was over, but my desire to get my paws on more of this awesome fabric won out.  Luckily she was outside with some of her family when we pulled up and she was just as nice as she could be.  She showed me the tub of bags she had left and we asked how much for all of it.  She said $8.  I said here's $10!  Unbelievable!  How generous!  She knows what this is worth....

Twelve more bags of fabric!  Grand total for Saturday and Sunday's haul -- $19.  I had a great time smoothing and sorting and stacking my new fabric and dreaming of what these pieces can become.

Awwwww, I'm Blushing....

Lynn of the Alamosaquilter blog gave me this...

How sweet is that?!!!  Lynn, thank you so much!  Now, apparently I haven't blogged in like a month or something so I'm just now getting around to acknowledging this sweetness, but I so appreciate it!  My very first bloggy award/gift.

You are supposed to pass on the love by giving this award to 12 other bloggers, etc., but as I am SO rudely late in acknowledging this, I am just going to list a few of my favorite blogs (and Lynn has already listed a number of favorites on her list, so I won't duplicate).  You may find some of these blogs as enjoyable as I do if you don't read them already:

  Nancy Near Philadelphia
  Thelma of Cupcakes 'n Daisies
  Heather of Quilt or Stitch?
  Wendy of Ivory Spring
  Darlene of Quilting Daze
  Nicole of Sisters Choice
  Carol's Crafty Creations
  Pat of All Decked Out

Thank you ladies for giving me smiles and inspiration!

Kenny's Flea Market Finds

I have a second installment of Kenny's Flea Market Finds.  Along with a bunch of great items for our daughter's new digs in the city, he found a few very cute figures with a quilty theme (and luckily he only brought one home with him - I really am running out of room!).

This one is a winter scene of two little boys sledding with a very cute puppy with a mini log cabin quilt as the backdrop.  No, it's not a real log cabin quilt, but a very realistic "cheater" that is actually quilted around every teeny little log! The quilt measures 6"x6", so you can imagine how small each log is. On the back the label says it's from The Amish Heritage Collection.

Here's a close up of the mini quilt:

Now, where to put it?!
